about Gryning Vård AB
1. What is Gryning Vård?
Gryning is Sweden's largest company within Homes for Care and Housing (swedish: HVB). Gryning is operated as a public service company, profits not being the main objective.
2. Who owns Gryning Vård?
The company is owned by four regional municipal associations in the west of Sweden, which in turn is owned by 50 local municipalities.
3. What does Gryning Vård do?
Gryning runs care and treatment homes for children, families, adolescents and adult substance abusers. Gryning offers a wide range of services. Our services are mainly contracted by the municipalities' social services.
4. Which functions make up Gryning Vård?
Currently we have 33 different units spread across the western region of Sweden. We provide residential care and small treatment homes. We offer housing for miners seeking asylum. One of our units offer protection, housing and professional support for young people that have fallen victiom to honour-related threats or violence. Finally we have started homes for young persons with different mental diagnoses.
5. Does Gryning Vård only work with placements outside the home?
Gryning has aimed at building up operations that complement residential care. We have started several home- and family-based treatments for young people. Many of our institutions also provide different forms of apartment housing and offer services in the clients´ own home.
6. Which services are offered by Gryning Vård within family foster care?
Gryning work as a foster family agency and provide support and traing for foster care families. Approximately 150 placements are directly contracted by Gryning in foster families.
7. Why choose Gryning Vård?
Gryning is a strong well integrated organization of considerable size with a wide range of services. We offer emergency placements, case investigation and long- and short-term treatment. Our collective range of services facilitates finding a solution suitable to each individual client's need and requirements.
Most of Gryning’s employees have university education and many have long years of work experience within the area. We provide our personnel with continual support and training as well as internal educational programs customized to our operations. Results from customer reviews show that our customers consider us serious, reliable and committed!
8. Which clients are placed at Gryning Vård?
Gryning target groups extend across all ages and all who come to us have a unique background. The common factor is that of having landed in a difficult situation and needing qualified support. In one year we meet approximately 2000 clients.
9. What happens during a placement?
At first the social worker turns to Gryning´s central placement service. Here we provide information about the various units and inform of available spaces. Our aim is that the placement consultants will find a suitable place within Gryning, however we also have good knowledge of other private HVB-homes in the region. Flexibility is a key-word in Gryning.
Our placement service is staffed all weekdays during working hours. Outside office hours we recommend calling the units specialized in emergency placements.
Sometimes we are contacted by private persons or representatives from schools, child welfare or health care. We can answer questions, but as the social services make all decisions on placements it is best to get in touch with the social services as early as possible.
10. Who pays for treatment?
Operations are entirely income financed. This means that we must charge for all our services. As a rule it is the municipalities' social services that pay for our services. In relation to the substance abuse care, the prison board or private companies may procure places in certain cases.
11. Who works at Gryning Vård?
The majority of employees at Gryning hold the position of treatment assistant. In addition we employ institution managers, psychologists, foster family consultants, placement consultants, teachers and administrative staff. Two thirds of our personnel have university education in social studies. We strive for an even distribution and equality between the sexes in our organisation. In connection to a new recruitment we always refer to The National Police Boards crime register.
12. How do the municipalities influence the development of treatment methods?
A close and trusting co-operation with the municipalities is the corner stone of Gryning’s operations. There are reference groups in the region that meet on a regular basis. We work in close collaboration with policicians and social workers in developing operations that will be beneficial to the needs of the communities and the citizens.
13. In what way does Gryning Vård work with the development of methods and know-how?
We keep up to date with resent research and our aim is to base all our work on research and proven evidence. Some of our units provide evidence-based methods such as MST- Multi Systemic Therapy.
14. Has Gryning a system for quality follow-up?
Gryning has a continuous quality improvement program, where we systematically monitor our efforts. Hereby we can build new know-how and develop methods within our field. Our quality program is based on a combination of interviews with the client, enquiries with the social services and annual collection of statistics concerning the outcome of our services.
15. What are Gryning’s plans for the future?
Our plan for the coming year is to expand our resources for asylum seeking miners. In doing this we are working in close collaboration with the municipalities. We are also increasing the number of places for young people subjected to honour related oppression.
